Cool Infant Tubs

March 2, 2010

Before Hayden was born, I went shopping for an infant bathtub and was disappointed by everything I saw.  It seemed like most of the tubs for sale had a bunch of bells and whistles that would be useless to me, or even be potentially over-stimulating for my baby.  The rest were just bulky and overpriced.  We ended up buying the least expensive tub we could find, and although it was big for our counter space, it served its purpose.  Since it was cheap we felt no regrets when we gave it away, once Hayden outgrew it around 7 months.

I recently saw these two tubs and though they looked super cool.  I don’t know anyone who has used wither of these with their babies, but I wish I had known about something like this when Hayden was little.

PujBaby Soft Cradle Tub

This tub is made of flexible rubber and fits into any standard sink.  It hangs flat to dry.  I am not sure it would have worked in our sink because it’s sized for a midget and has very little clearance between the sink basin and faucet, but the baby in this picture looks cozy!

Spa Baby Upright Bath Tub

With a standard, reclining baby bathtub, it’ hard to fill it up with enough water to keep your baby warm and feeling secure.  This one might be a good solution and could mimic the womb environment for newborns.

I have a 5 month old and was given the upright bath tub and did not like it very much. It was really awkward for my baby when he couldn’t hold his own head up. I haven’t tried it since but the first couple of times ruined it for me.

My daughter just bought the PujSoftub for her newborn (2nd child) and absolutely loves it! Their sink (bathroom) is quite small and it is no problem. While holding baby in a towel with one hand, she can undue the snaps and hang up the tub to dry over the bathtub. As baby grows, they can move to the kitchen sink. And she has given it to 2 other moms to be! Great!
