If You Can’t Stand the Heat, Get Out of the Kitchen
I started this blog a little over a year ago. As a self-proclaimed foodie, I intended it to be one of those food blogs for moms and anyone else who needs to eat. (Obviously, I’ve got a lot more to write about than food.) Since then I have written almost one hundred posts inspired by my love for creating good stuff to stuff to scarf down. But something tragic has happened. I don’t want to cook anymore.
I became aware of this last week when we had a short spell of hot weather- my poorly insulated apartment is a cook’s worst nightmare (nothing like standing over a hot stove with sweaty boobs and upper lip). I just didn’t feel like making anything, which got me thinking. And I realized that I haven’t been excited about cooking for some time, now. I don’t know if it’s that I am experiencing a cook’s slump, am getting burned out, or am just tired of cooking in a kitchen without a pantry.
So this cook is going on a semi-vacation. Oh, sure, I’ll still be making dinners because we’ve got to eat something besides Trader Joe’s frozen pizzas, but I need a break. My new goal is to make it as easy for myself as possible. Making meals that keep on giving. Getting more creative with leftovers. And re-stocking the freezer with “emergency ” meals. When I get the urge to create in the kitchen, I’ll share it here. But in the meantime, you’re going to be reading more about the quirky, menstruating, navel-gazing me.
