Speaking of Family
I’m back! And right before I have to leave again, too. BlogHer11 is just four days away!
I haven’t been writing this week because I just didn’t have it in me. On top of preparing for my new life as a pirate (a transition that will take place in just a few short weeks), my little Hayden has been sick.
I thought summer was supposed to give us a break from illness?
He ran fever for 6 1/2 days. Not just I’m-grumpy-and-tired fever, but 105-degree-please-hold-me-but-don’t-touch-me kind fever.
And after two strep tests and a chest xray, it was still a virus.
This was a long week for our entire family.
Speaking of family, last week Hayden’s school had a theme of family. They made family-related art and read family-related books. When the teachers asked, “What is a family?” the kids’ answers were recorded and sent home for the parents’ entertainment.
Most of the answers were typical responses like “a bunch of people who live together” or “a step brother and step sister” or “a sharky family.”
His answer to “What is a family?”
It’s the place where the lions are. It’s stuff where you go somewhere.
Yeah, I don’t know, either.
