Don’t Wipe Your Poo On the Counter

November 1, 2011

I feel like I have been gone a long, long time.  Not a day has gone by that I haven’t thought about writing.  About reading.  About how all of you might have had babies and made changes and cried and laughed, and I have missed it all because I have been out there somewhere and not here.

But I have a decent-sized list of excuses, I swear.  In the past six weeks I have destroyed a house, fallen in love, had a comeback, had a breakdown, remodeled a kitchen, and played soccer with Darth Vader.

I also wore the same underwear for two days straight, ate potato chips for dinner three nights in a row, went to IKEA no fewer than eleven times, and hosted a 4th birthday party.  And now, I am finally ready to share picture of The Transformation.

Behold, the Before and After.

I couldn’t be happier with my no-longer-green floors and clean, white kitchen.  But, as you can imagine, we are worn out.  And broke.  And after a nice break this weekend, the workers are coming back tomorrow to start the bathroom.  Because what’s in there right now?   Looks like somebody went number two and then wiped it all over the already ugly counter (thank you L.N. for such a PERFECT description).

More to come…

I think the floors look pretty good. There are definitely some spots that aren’t so good, and the whole house creaks, but I am really glad to have discovered wood under there.

Whoa! It looks fantastic! I do regret not doing more to this house before we had kids. Now even the thought of buying a can of paint makes me squirm. Great job, Carrie!

Thanks. I will admit, working on this house with Hayden around was NOT easy.
