It Is Not Seven Yet.
School was cancelled today because of high winds. Not that we can’t handle a little wind, but because nobody has any power (except for us whoohoo!), and if the kids play outside somebody will surely be taken out by a flying palm tree.
Unfortunately, school being cancelled means I don’t get to do anything I planned for today. Like
surfing the web I mean writing and going for a long run.
In fact, the only reason I am sitting down at the computer right now is because I drugged Hayden with TV.
Not getting to do the things I planned seems to be the trend. Take, for instance, a scenario from earlier this week.

Tuesday night, about 9:30 pm
“I am going to go to bed, honey.”
Scott: Okay, I am going to stay up and
watch weird 3D tutorials and music videos do a little work.
“We have an appointment in the morning.”
Scott: Oh, we do! Yes!
Wednesday morning, about 6:20
Scott, rolling over way to close: I thought we had an appointment this morning?
“Grr hm grr still sleeping.”
Wednesday morning, 6:37
“Okay. I am awake. But we’d better hurry.”
A few pleasant seconds pass…
Wednesday morning, 6:38. The sound of flat sized 11 feet padding down the hall and into our room.
Sounding both panicked and angry: “No, Hayden. Get back in your bed. Now.”
Hayden ignores my threatening tone and comes around to my side of the bed.
“NO, HAYDEN, IT IS TOO EARLY IT IS NOT SEVEN YET GET BACK IN YOUR BED.”
Hayden begins to climb onto the bed.
“NO NO NO HAYDEN IT IS NOT SEVEN YET GO TO YOUR ROOM NOW OR THERE WILL BE A CONSEQUENCE!“

Although I haven’t been able to do everything I planned this week, I have managed to enjoy a lot of junk food and treats, including some Cranberry Orange Bread which Hayden and I made together this morning but he proclaimed too sour so I ate both his piece and mine and now feel both wired and sleepy at the same time from too much sugar.
