Blast From the Past
A lot has changed over the past year. Well, actually, that’s a bunch of baloney. The kind of stuff people write in holiday form letters.
Aside from remodeling a house, not much has changed.
Oh, except that I decided that I was going to be an eater instead of a cooker. Because even though I love to cook, I get burned out.
A year ago my kitchen was on fire (not literally, thank goodness), and at the rate I was doing food-related posts, you’d have thought my days were numbered.
And then I ran out of things to cook and stopped blabbing about everything I put in my mouth and started writing about everything else. Which has been sometimes hard for me and sometimes hard for others. But it has been a great outlet for me- one I never thought I had.
Now that the holidays are around the corner and I have a kid who wants to be fed every twenty minutes, I am back in the kitchen, planning what I am going to make for Christmas Day and trying not to burn what I am cooking tonight.
This time last year I was cooking up all kinds of winter time stuff. Like Butter Cookies and Sweet Moroccan Yams and Chicken Pot Pie and Butternut Squash Risotto with Sausage (which actually looked like poop but tasted great).
So go read and get your culinary self on. Send me some new ideas, too. I am getting tired of orange food.
