I’m Going If You’re Going.

January 19, 2012

So, BlogHer 2012.

It’s right around the corner.

Okay, not exactly, but early bird ticket pricing ends in a month, so this is key decision-making time.  And to go or not to go… that is the question.

BlogHer 2011 was so easy for me, it would have been silly not to go.  All I had to do was drive down to Sandy and put on my friendly face and pretend I wasn’t skeered into a cold sweat.

And then I got there and met a bunch of cool people and learned a little, too.

And then I drove back to LA, making it in under two hours, and found S and H injury-free and relatively clean.

But this year BlogHer will be in New York City.  Which is both awesome and not awesome.  Let’s break it down, shall we?

Awesome

  • Duh, it’s New York.
  • I could reconnect with bloggers I met last year.
  • I could meet some who didn’t attend last year.
  • I will probably learn something.
  • I will likely have a lot of fun.
  • I have family in New York.

Not Awesome

  • A plane ticket to New York.
  • A hotel stay in New York (I am feeling broke already).
  • With the time difference, it will take me all day to get there, which means I will want to stay a day longer than last year.
  • I will want to spend some time with family, which means I will want to stay a day longer than last year.
  • I will not learn as much as I’d hoped.
  • I will likely have too much fun, rendering me sleepless and racoon-eyed for the duration of the trip.
  • I will be seeing New York, and my husband will not.  Instead he will be in charge for even longer than last year, while I am far, far away.

Let’s not do the math, which will make BlogHer 2012 an overall not awesome idea.  Rather, I want you to convince me one way or another by telling me whether you are going or not.  Because I certainly can’t go if I won’t have anyone to eat dinner with.

Basically, I’m going if you’re going.

No. 🙁 I was really hoping for somewhere in the middle, especially since it was in NYC in 2010. And although i am dying to go to New York, it is frightening to me alone.

Yes you do have family in New York! Our place has an extra bedroom that you are welcome to stay in – thus saving the cost of a hotel room. You can take that “not awesome” item off your list! …And we would LOVE to see you! xoxo

If I can get a little sponsorship or a volunteer position at BlogHer12, I’m going. I love NYC and figure I know what I’m getting into this year. Although I’m not worried about having too much fun. I’m much too awkward for that.

I should know by the end of February. I would lovelovelove to finally meet you.

I wish. But damn, last year BlogHer broke the bank, even being in my damn backyard. I just can’t justify the cost this year. I wish like hell I could though, I had a freaking blast last year! (Thanks in large part to you my dear).

As much as I miss that damn city, I can’t spend money that way at the moment. I wish I could because I have been wanting to meet everyone in 3D for so long now..

If you’ve never been to NYC, it’s remarkable – and also really fucking weird. Basically – a great time.
