I’m Bringing Carrie Back

January 27, 2012

This morning at 6:57, I am mid-dream after falling back asleep sometime between 5:30 and 6:56.

MOMMY! Where’s my silly putty!?!?

Which is followed by repetitive toots from a recorder that plays the same note no matter which holes are covered up.

So much for my self improvement plan, which involved getting more sleep.

Oh, and there is no silly putty because sometime in December it was all smeared amongst the branches of the Christmas Tree.

Back to the self improvement plan.

I have done twice before.  The first time was a few years out of college.  It was a major overhaul, and quite successful.  The second was right after Hayden was born.  I called it The Momover, and results were iffy.

This time, it’s serious.  None of this “momover” business.  Because this overhaul isn’t about being a new mother (that is so five minutes ago).  This time, it’s about being me.

I’m bringing Carrie back.

All I want are hair extensions. I’ve been growing mine out for a year and a half after a very traumatic salon incident while my stylist was on maternity leave.

I’ve told her she can have no more children.

My makeover today was wearing scraggly ass pigtails.

    (I’m 43 *sigh)

Ugh. I have been growing my hair out for three years, and it keeps getting shorter. i am too impatient, but I always regret trimming it because it grows so damned slowly.
