Home At Last
I haven’t been writing much, lately. With each passing week I have a new
I really need to prep that soil.
Today I am running errands.
It’s too hard to write with Hayden around.
I am so busy with Arthur, now.
But the real reason I haven’t been writing is because my life has been on hold for about six months. Sure, I have single-handedly landscaped our entire backyard and started on the front. And I have been mothering a most wonderful, loving, yet challenging four year-old boy (self pat on back). And I became a doggie parent. But beneath all of that, things have been turning in slow motion.
Scott has been gone for six months. He left in early December to work on location in New Orleans. He has come back home to visit every three weeks or so, but they were only visits. Each time he left us again was just as hard as the first.
I haven’t written about his absence for safety reasons (since I have sooooo many Internet stalkers), but that doesn’t mean I haven’t wanted to. Being separated has not been easy for any of us, and when we finally got the news that he would be coming home for good on May 25 we were ready to celebrate. His company made flight arrangements, and he began packing his bags. But just a few days before he was due to fly home, they changed it. He would still be able to come home for Memorial Day weekend, but he had to go back to New Orleans Monday night. We were crushed.
We were told his stay there would only be extended ten days and that the could come home for real this Wednesday.
We have been counting the days.
Last night, after I put Hayden to bed and Arthur had already put himself in his kennel, I heard a knock at the door.
And you can guess who it was.
Good thing he is strong because I threw myself into his arms, legs wrapped around his waist like a little girl. Best three-days-early surprise I’ve ever received.
In celebration of his return, I picked out some early Fathers Day presents for him. You can read about them over at This Blogger Makes Fun of Stuff.
